1. Acute and Chronic Cystitis

Inflammation of the bladder (*cystitis*), which can cause pain, burning sensation, and/or difficulty during urination. Mais Buhok (Corn Silk) acts as a diuretic, helping to flush the urinary tract.

Other Treatment Steps:

Preparation (Corn Silk): Chop two cups of fresh young corn hairs (*Buhok ng Mais*).

Boiling: Place the chopped corn silk in four glasses of water and boil for fifteen minutes. Strain the decoction.

Age Group Dosage (2 hours after supper)
Adults **One glass**, **three times a day**.
Children (7–9 years) **Half a cup**, **three times a day**.
Children (10–12 years) **One cup**, **three times a day**.

Possible **allergic reactions** in rare cases, especially in individuals allergic to corn.

Since it is a strong **diuretic**, ensure adequate fluid intake (plain water) to prevent dehydration.

If symptoms of cystitis (painful urination, blood in urine, severe lower back pain) **persist or worsen**, seek immediate consultation with your **healthcare provider**. Severe urinary tract infections often require antibiotics.

Not recommended for **pregnant or breastfeeding women** without medical advice.
